ABOUT CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY
What is Craniosacral Therapy?

Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on therapy that works with the body as an integrated whole rather than focusing on symptoms in isolation. Using a light, attentive touch, practitioners listen to the subtle patterns of tension, movement and stillness within the body, supporting the nervous system's natural capacity for regulation, adaptation and healing.
Although the name refers to the cranium (head) and sacrum (base of the spine), treatment is not limited to these areas. Craniosacral Therapy works with the whole body, recognising the close relationship between the nervous system, fascia, fluids, bones, organs, breath and our emotional experience.
Many people describe sessions as deeply relaxing, while others notice subtle shifts in body awareness, breathing, movement or emotional wellbeing. Every treatment is unique because every person brings a different history, body and nervous system.
What Happens During a Session
Your first appointment begins with a conversation about your health, medical history and what has brought you to treatment.
You remain fully clothed throughout the session and usually lie comfortably on a treatment table, although treatment can also take place seated if needed.
Using gentle contact on different areas of the body—including the head, spine, pelvis, feet, abdomen or wherever your body invites attention—the practitioner follows the body's own responses rather than applying force or manipulation.
Many people experience a deep sense of rest during treatment. Others notice warmth, gentle movement, emotional release, memories, or simply the opportunity to slow down in a way that modern life rarely allows. There is no "correct" experience; sessions unfold differently for each individual.

A Whole-Person Approach
Rather than asking, "What is wrong with you?" Craniosacral Therapy asks, "What has your body adapted to?"
Our bodies continually respond to life's experiences—injury, illness, surgery, emotional stress, pregnancy, birth, grief, accidents and everyday demands. Often these adaptations are helpful in the moment but can continue long after they are needed.
Craniosacral Therapy creates the conditions for the body to soften long-held patterns, reconnect with its own resources and move towards greater balance and resilience. It is not about forcing change, but supporting the wisdom that already exists within you.
Craniosacral Therapy is intended to complement, not replace, conventional medical care. We encourage clients to continue working alongside their GP and other healthcare professionals whenever appropriate.
